"Normal" witches?
[edit]I disagree with the fact the artical states distinguish those helpful witches who do not use magic to harm others from normal witches.
White may be used to state that a witch is not black but that does not mean normal withces harm people as a matter of fact. well some witches may not mean to harmt he people that they did it could have very well been a spell mess up.
- As the article explains, when the term arose, all "normal" witches were assumed to be evil, almost without exception. This is not true now, but it was then.--Cúchullain t/c 23:34, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
I'm unaware of any evidence that magic or "fairy familars" actually exist. Why does this article imply that they do?Web wonder (talk) 03:32, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
- See Fairy familiars (biology)? Currently, the article doesn't imply the existence of evidence (scientific or anecdotal). It uses terms like "see themselves as", "convicted of", "considered themselves", "described their contacts with fairies", "beliefs" and "themes". I've removed the word "actual" from the end of the first sentence "practitioners of actual malevolent witchcraft." Possibly the word "fairy" could be removed from "whose fairy familiars had been demonised" but the acceptability of the term "familiar" would seem to depend on one's interpretation. Also, "fairy familiars," might be the term used in the cited works. — Machine Elf 1735 (talk) 17:00, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
- Cunning-folk didn't have familiars and they didn't fit the definition of witches and didn't consider themselves witches. This article is the usual wikipedia neo-pagan and Wiccan pseudo-scientific nonsense! 86.184.217.7 (talk) 13:33, 12 March 2014 (UTC)
If a white witch is a good witch why was the villain of the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was called the White Witch.
- Because the term is usually used by neo-pagan, pseudo-scientific fools who think they are witches and Lewis was probably unaware of this meaning when he created that character; she is white due to the snow. 86.184.217.7 (talk) 13:37, 12 March 2014 (UTC)
